Honeyville's Alta Artisan Unbleached Flour is a high quality flour that's similar to a low-protein European style flour. It has less gluten, which helps create crisper crusts and irregular
hole structures. This flour type is commonly used to make baguettes, croissants, rustic breads, donut bases and more. While the fiber and protein is low, it does contain high amounts of iron, which is important
for red blood cells. Honeyville Alta Artisan Unbleached Flour produces amazing results and is ideal for your baking needs.
Shelf-Life: Stores for 1 year in a sealed 50 pound bag under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place).
Uses: Used for high quality breads and baked goods, including baguettes, rustic country bread and donut bases.

My wife is the baker in our family and I'm not all that experienced. However, I know what I like to eat and I like good bread.
Recently I decided it was time I got into attempting to bake my own bread and my daughter gave me some tools and a kneedless bread book to kick start my efforts.
My first breads were actually quite good and as I tried different flours I started to get a feel for small differences between them.
After reading the Amazon reviews on Alta flour I decided to give it a try (rather risky for a beginning baker to go for 50 lbs of flour).
I immediately noticed that my bread wasn't rising as fast or as much as it had with King Arthur Bread flour and I was feeling a bit insecure.
However, after I got a loaf out of the oven, let it cool, then cut into it, I have to say, this is the flour I've been looking for. My breads have more substance to them, the crust was always great but now it's chewier, and this is exactly the kind of bread I was dreaming about baking.
Thanks for keeping the shipping cost low which enables those of us who don't have a retail store that carries this product near us to use it.
You might consider selling this in smaller quantities so people could test it before committing to 50 lbs but at this point I'm very glad I did.

This is my favorite bread flour... hands down! I have tried most of the expensive unbleached flours out there. Alta Artisan consistently makes the finest loaf with the best texture. The crust is fabulous!
I bake at least three days per week, and have used this for nearly every variety of bread I make. From Challah to Sourdough to Pumpernickel, it is always perfect! Works great for pancakes and sweet breads (like banana) too! I think it is better than King Arthur. Great results every time.

I've never learned to make bread so I bought a Zojirushi breadmaker and have been using this flour for months once or twice a week. The bread is always perfect and the taste ahhhhh!! This is my second time ordering, thanks Honeyville for the wonderful discount. I'm a long time fan!

I have been making my artisan bread with regular bread flour with okay results. I tried this flour on a whim and was amazed at the results. The crust is nice and crispy but the real treat is the airiness and wonderful chewiness of the inside! It is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone for this type of bread. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.
