Not bad, but not great

The Alta Artisan flour is better tasting than this one; the Cal Best seemed rather bland in comparison. I used them mainly for breads, but also cookies (didn't make a difference there).

I'm midway through my second 50-lb. sack of this flour. I bake two sourdough loaves weekly (with occasionally more exotic breads as well); and regardless of what I add for flavoring or texture (e.g., cheese, onion, ground flax or sunflower seeds, other fiber-rich flours), this flour holds up and yields a great bread. Of course it is the only flour in my sourdough starter, so it does yeoman's work. Hint: a pinch of lecithin just makes the bread even better. (And what I don't eat myself, the wild critters love!) Thanks!

I bought a 50 lb bag of this flour and shared it with several baker friends of mine. I kept 15 lbs for myself and wasn't sure how well it would perform. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! This is the nicest bread flour I've ever used. It's just beautiful in all my artisan breads and out performs King Arthur Flours. I just love this flour and am ordering another bag PLUS an all purpose flour too. Thanks so much.. what a great product!
