Review Part 3 - : ) Recommendations: #1) Never use a microwave - this stuff will just lose all flavor, even at 2:1 concentration mixes. #2) Use warm, not cold, and not hot water - that'll avoid the clumping. Though the clumps really concentrate the flavor, and I've found that having the clumps in some egg recipes can really improve the flavor retention, which brings us to: #3) Avoid mixing with the prepared and cooked powdered egg also here on Honeyville. The eggs will just suck up the cheese sauce and you won't even be able to notice the cheese flavor. : ) Good stuff, all told. A bit expensive for the amount needed at the concentrations that give good results, but a good, simple, fast and flexible sauce.

Great product – Highly recommend!!

Just tried this cheese for the first time last night. It was a really great product. The taste and texture was very much like regular cheese. It was very easy to prepare using the instructions provided on the can. I will certainly be using more of this product in the future and would recommend it to anyone.

Cheese Powder

This tastes more like real cheese than Velveeta, which is what I used in cooking for nearly 30 years. It doesn't take damage on the foil and get hard spots in the refrigerator, or get weevils and spoil before the expiration date just sitting on the pantry shelf. This stuff not only tastes better but it is easier to add in varying proportions to dishes. I like to boil meat, rice, and vegetables in a pot together, and blend some of this mixed with water in at the end. It makes a delicious thickened stew with cheese flavoring. My sloppy technique makes some lumps, but they taste good too. My husband does a better job on the sauce for his macaroni and cheese. We tried it in the 6-combo and ordered a case of 6 after that, so that tells you what we really think of it.

Pretty Good

This cheese powder was much better than I expected. You do have to use a LOT to get a good cheese flavor because it's a little bland with the mixture they suggest on the can. Still, it smells good, was fresh, and has made it easier to make cheesy dishes without a lot of fuss.

Well, Honeyville Farms did actually publish the negative review I posted - kudos to them for not censoring unfavorable reviews like so many other sites. I guess that means you can trust these reviews a little more then you may otherwise - nice for the rest of us. : ) As for an addendum, I've been using a concentration of 2:1 or 2.25:1 water-to-sauce, and the results are pretty good. A nice cheesy flavor, thick enough to hold together (ie; no longer soup-like), no need for additional butter, though I frequently add some powdered milk substitute as well - about a tablespoon per half cup cheese powder. Adding a sharp salsa makes for great mexican dishes, and mixing with broccoli, cauliflower, and chicken is also a simple, tasty dish.
