Each can contains 2.25 pounds of Pasteurized Powdered Whole Eggs.

Honeyville's Dried Whole Eggs are produced exclusively from fresh eggs harvested from chickens in the United States.  The eggs are spray dried and pasteurized in the USA for optimal quality and safety.

Honeyville's Powdered Whole Eggs are produced though a special process designed to provide a free flowing powder that has been pasteurized for your safety. Originally developed for use in the military, our whole egg powder, when blended with water, reconstitutes into a product similar to fresh whipped eggs. These reconstituted eggs may then be used as a direct substitute for fresh eggs. One 2.25 pound can of Powdered Whole Eggs is equivalent to about 81 to 90 Large Fresh Whole Eggs. Our whole egg powder is non-perishable and requires no refrigeration and is ideal for camping, travel, and long-term food storage. This product may be stored for up to 12 months opened, and 5 to 10 years in airtight sealed cans.

Reconstitution Instructions:

To reconstitute one egg, mix 2 Tablespoons of powdered whole egg with 4 Tablespoons of water. Use for any recipe that calls for eggs. When using with other dry ingredients, it is not necessary to reconstitute egg. Simply add to other dry ingredients and increase water measurements in mixture to necessary amount.

Applications:

Spray dried whole eggs can be used in any application where fresh eggs are called for including scrambled eggs, omelets, and as a protein supplement in your favorite smoothie or health drink.  Powdered eggs can be added to your favorite recipes with comparable results.  Since powdered eggs have been pasteurized, there is no need to cook the product.  Once a powdered egg has been rehydrated it should be treated as a fresh egg and used immediately.  Dried eggs are great for camping, hiking, and survival preparation.  The long storage life and ease of transport make dried eggs and egg whites ideal for outdoor preparation.

Storage:

Honeyville's Powdered Whole Eggs can be stored 5 to 10 years sealed and unopened, and up to 12 months opened.  As always storage life is dependant on storage conditions.  Always store food products in a cool, dry place for optimum storage life. Each # 10 Can of Dehydrated Eggs contains 2.25 pounds of product. A #10 can measures 7 inches tall and is a little over 6 inches in diameter, or roughly the size of a large coffee can.

Ingredients: Whole Eggs, less than 2% sodium silico aluminate (added as an anti-caking agent)

Honest Review
Michael (North Carolina) 9/2/2010 5:24 AM
Honestly we have to say that we are a bit disappointed with this product. We purchased this product to be used on camping/hiking trips, and possible emergencey situations. In an emergency situation, this would be a decent product, for any other situation though, probably not. Following the manufacturers instructions, and cooked as scrambled eggs, produced a dark egg like substance that slightly tasted like eggs. The texture is semi-similar to scrambled eggs, but the combination of the texture and taste makes them barely barable to eat. Price, and shelf life though make this a product to consider for emergencys. After all, given the right amount of hunger, one will consume just about anything.

No worries about sodium silico aluminate
James (California) 7/30/2010 1:54 PM
I looked up the 2% sodium silico aluminate powder and the university of Oregon states the following, "Anticaking agent used in table salt up to 2 percent; dried egg yolks up to 2 percent; in sugar up to 1 percent; and in baking powder up to 5 percent. Slightly alkaline. No known toxicity." Looks like this chemical is already in a lot of our food and I am fine.

Well received in Afghanistan
MsMarti (North Dakota) 7/15/2010 2:39 PM
I had a chaplain request powdered eggs. It seems he bakes cakes for birthdays and other special occasions for the Marines he is with in Afghanistan. He was thrilled to receive an entire case of these eggs!

cheryl arend (connecticut) 5/6/2010 2:32 PM
I have six kids and have run out of eggs, especially on sunday. I don't shop on sunday, so I added the powder and water to accomadate for the amount of eggs needed. It worked perfectly in all my baked goods!!! I highy suggest this product. It worked in bread, cookies, cakes etc...

This product contains added aluminum which is a long-term mental health hazard. So for occasional use and as a survival tool in nuclear winter type scenarios it should fine, - but as daily or weekly food FRESH eggs are better for your health & your wallet as well.
