Awesome Oats!!!
Dave (California) 3/30/2011 3:41 PM
These oats are the best I've ever had, they taste so good and they are whole so they still have all the nutrients in them. I let mine soak over night in 4 parts water and just heat them in the microwave and they are ready to go. I don't add anything to mine because I prefer the natural taste.

Best of Oats
M.L.Dahle (Michigan) 2/5/2011 12:28 PM
I've tried a number of steel cut oats and have found nothing that tastes better then these...(NOTHING) I don't know how or why. You would think that an Oat was an oat. I was reading a favorite recipe from the site and decide I would add one. I make enough oats to last four servings. Boiling as directed but I add one ounce per serving of crushed or ground almonds I make in my grinder. The fat in the almonds really smooth's out the Oats while giving them a nice crunch. Store the rest in your Frig and microwave the portions as needed. Blueberries always good to add. Love these oats.

Best price and taste

These have a very nutty flavor and texture. Quaker oats tastes absolutely awful after you've tried Honeyville steel cut oats. I cook mine in the crockpot on high for 65 minutes, usually half a can at a time and then put it in the fridge and eat on it for the rest of the week. I'm a competitive cyclist so I eat a lot of this stuff as it has a lower glycemic index and is good for keeping me lean. I add some almond milk and various types of berries to make it perfect.

Great Oats!

This is a staple food at our house. We eat it every morning for breakfast. It is every bit as good as the Scottish imported oats and comes in metal containers just like the Scottish oats, but costs less and is a domestic product. We buy it 5 cases at a time, to get the quantity discount. The shelf life is such that it makes a good emergency stock as well as a staple food. I am a little confused because the old cans said it has a shelf life of 10 - 20 years and the new cans say only 7 - 10 years. I am sure we will not keep it around that long, but I wonder if the processing changed or only the label. The new can last night had a lovely aroma of oats when I opened it. Our breakfast recipe is: 1/2 cup oats 2 cups water 10 prunes cut up with kitchen shears vanilla and/or cinnamon as flavorings Leave overnight in pot covered with lid. In the morning, cook for 20 minutes over low heat. Note: The new cans says 6 water to 1 oats as opposed to 4 water to 1 oats on the old cans. I opened our first new can last night and it seemed about the same this morning although I did forget to time it properly so I won't know for sure until tomorrow. If your oats come out too watery at 6 to 1, try 4 to 1.

Great product, great value

We've always preferred steel-cut oats, so it was fabulous to find an excellent product from Honeyville Farms. The taste is fresher than anything else we've tried and it's a real value. We highly recommend it.

Great product, great value. Absolutely better than rolled oats as a breakfast cereal. I make it with cinnamon, raisins, and a little brown sugar.

My family prefers steel cut oats over regular oatmeal. A nice change. My family likes freeze-dried blueberries in the it.
