Poppy Seeds 50 LB

I've ordered from this company for about 18 months now. I've seen blue labels on white bags, brown bags, white bags with written labels come through. I've always been pleased. My disappointment came today from a shipment that arrived Monday. Two days ago I made lemon muffins and I thought they tasted off, but I've been fighting a cold and I assumed it was me. This morning I made Mohn which has a pretty concentrated use of poppy seeds given the size of the recipe and I'm sorry to say the taste is terrible. I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of this order. We can't use it for most of the recipes. This label specifically read Gel Spice Premium Blue Poppy. It's a blue label on a white bag. I have to agree that the plain brown bag is by far their best and produces the best items, but most customers don't notice the difference. Unfortunately, this is unmistakable and disappointing. switch back! I'll give 5 stars to the brown bag, 4 to the plain white and 1 star to this most recent blue stripe on white.

I agree with the posters about the old brown bag seeds. I have stopped ordering from this place after they switched the seeds. The old ones had so much a better flavor and my customers noticed a difference when using these new ones. I am writing this review in hopes that they would once again purchase the seeds from where they use to because you have lost a loyal customer.

Just would like to give my opinion on whoever your new supplier is for these poppy seads. As a baker that makes a lot of different breads as well as pasteries, these new ones in the white bag that just came on 12/17 on my doorstep just do not have that robust flavor I am looking for as the previous ones that came in the brown bag. I dont know if that is just because they are washed more or just a different kind of poppies, but i will not be orderig these 50lb bags from you again until I am aware you are purchasing from your previous supplier...Thanks though but just not worth my money.

Posts like these on THIS website is the very reason you have nicely cleaned seeds. Blame yourselves. I for one was happy without saying anything!

The seed sin the brown bag were great and then ANOTHER switch to a different supplier/brand? Anyways the seeds in the new white bag with the blue stripe across that reads blue poppy seed, etc, in white letters, are very bad. Why the switch, again?!Anyways half my order was the white bags, which the seed is EXTREMELY inferior and boarderline valueless. PLEASE, Honeyville, bring back the plain brown bag product! Returning these 50lb bags is next to impossible, but I will find a way IF I get more white/blue bags.

I've ordered several times and never get consistency. More often than not they arrive overly cleaned and not as flavorful. Once my shipment tasted overwhelmingly raw as if they hadn't been washed at all, my favorite taste. Occasionally they are delicious and have that flavor we all look for, or at least near enough, but not always. What keeps me coming back is the price and shipping, which are great. But overall consistency of an A+ seed is not always what you'll get.

I decided to give these seeds a try, because at this price point, and especially considering the outstanding shipping price, no other vendor can compete. That being said, either John S. is a fibber or Benjamin White and me are both crazy. Either way, I ended up with very well washed seeds, 100lb worth.

These seeds arrived ready to bake with. Very clean and very thoroughly pre-washed. The will not turn your muffins mix brown at all. Absolutely no bits of stem/pod in the bag like some bulk poppy seeds, so I didn't even have to wash them before making bread and more bread, lots of yummy crunchy BREAD.

Buying 50 lb of these seeds for the first time seemed like a risk but I was pleasantly surprised. Quick delivery and a good product. The only issue I had with it is the bag type is weak for this product. Mine was torn along the string stitching about 3 inches which caused spillage in the box. Fortunately I picked the bag up from the correct end. Otherwise it would have been a huge mess. After reading Benjamin White's review I think he must be smoking the seeds. Don't pay any attention to his review because it makes no sense at all.

I purchased a 50lb bag and it seemed unwashed and smelled very freah and was good and clumpy, so I purchased several more 50lb bags as the price + shipping cannot be beat and the product was a new and completely different strain; to my suprise, the seeds had a very unpleasant odor, but were very well WASHED and VERY CLEAN. I certainly did NOT have to take any time to wash the seeds before using them for COOKING.

The 50lb bag of poppy seeds was an excellent buy and very cheap shipping. Seeds were very tasty and perfect for our baking needs. Not over processed like most of the seeds you get nowadays so the flavor is great! We will be continuing to shop at Honeyville for all our baking needs!

Where should I begin? The quality of all the products I have ordered has been outstanding. The poppy seeds where dark strong and fresh. They have no rivals out there. Customer service is great and their prices can't be beat. Most times your order is mailed the next day. I absolutely recommend HoneyGrains and all their many products.

Well, even though they no longer carry the big TasAlk bags, the 50 lbs bag I ordered and received was of very good quality. Pretty Strong Taste. Right after I received my order, the price dropped, but these things happen, I suppose. The service from this company has been very good, and the cheap shipping is a real value. Please See This. The seeds are by far the best quality I've had. The price is unbelievable. Shipped the same day I placed my order and the 50lb bag was on my door step 3 days later. I will most certainly be a repeat customer! PST Approved:)
