Honeyville's Flavored-Like Taco Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is actually a meat analogue product made through a special extrusion process which provides a 100% vegetable product that approaches the taste and texture of meat. This highly nutritious vegetarian meat substitute is processed from defatted soy flour which contains more than 52% protein and 18% total dietary fiber. TVP has been used for many years in U.S. Food Nutritional Service programs and has been an integral part of the School Lunch program. Because of the recognized health and nutritional benefit of soy protein in the diet and the added benefit of low moisture and low fat content, Honeyville Flavored-like Taco TVP is an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.

Shelf-Life: Taco Flavored TVP will store for 10 to 20 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions:  Add one part textured vegetable protein to one part hot water. Allow taco TVP to hydrate for about 15 minutes. Adding ½ cup textured vegetable protein to ½ cup of water will yield about 1 cup of cooked meat substitute.

Uses:  Taco Flavored TVP can be used separately or in combination with meat as an effective meat extender in tacos, pizza toppings, burritos, meat sauces and more.

Love the TVP! (and all the food storage products)
Kathy (North Dakota) 12/12/2012 3:55 PM
I bought a combo pack of TVP plus a few others: 2 chicken, 2 beef, taco, bacon, ham, 2 plain, sausage. Thrilled with the ease of cooking with this instant "meat". No more greasy mess to clean up after dinner and no worries of contaminated meat from the grocery store. My favorites are the sausage and beef due to the larger size crumbles. All are delicious. I rehydrate some, stir in barbecue sauce and have some very quick sandwiches. It's great in omelets, fried patties, spaghetti, tacos, burritos, cheese burgers, hamburger helper, lasagna, any place you would use ground meat. We use this TVP every day, not for emergencies. If the electric goes out, all our "meat" will still be good. Out here in rural ND, we would have to drive an hour to the nearest grocery store (and back). Having this delivered to our door saves $$$ and time. We no longer worry about food prices rising. We bought in bulk and locked in the price! note: we are switching to food storage products for ALL our groceries and couldn't be happier. One side effect: we are losing weight! Yay!

Great taste, convincing texture. Tasted alone, its just slightly more salty than you may expect. Adjust your recipes accordingly! Good stuff!

Way too salty
Kevin (Folsom, CA) 1/14/2012 10:42 PM
It's a good quality product, nice texture and overall good nutritional makeup. But way too much salt. I'm not a "low sodium" freak or even close, but this is just way salty. Which makes no sense, unless done for shelp life purposes. But in a survival situation, I wouldn't want my food to make me as thirsty as this will. Disappointed.

Happy first time buyer
Janean Giddens (middle Georgia) 5/9/2011 11:29 AM
After looking around and considering TVP as a part of my new eating habbits, few weeks ago I decided to try some of your products. I bought the Taco, Beef and Chicken TVP (some of my "favorite foods"), not really sure what to expect. The night they arrived, I was fixing speghetti for my family and decided to fix some sause for myself, with the beef tvp. I was surprised! I couldn't tell the difference except, the "ground beef" chunks in MY sause was much bigger than the real stuff they got! A few nights later, we had taco's so I fixed up some for me, with the taco tvp and made up a big salad. REALLY REALLY GOOD!! Haven't tried the chicken tvp yet, but sure it will be just as good. Thank-you J Giddens

Grand Imperial Poobah of Mandatory fields that make no sense

Have been picking this up in the Honeyville in Chandler, and VERY happy to see it finally on the website. Mild taco flavour, very convincing with mouth feel and taste. Mix this 1/2 and 1/2 with the beef tvp, since the beef is a larger granule size. Fast becoming our favorite of the TVP meat analogues, very versatile.
