Honeyville's Unflavored Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is actually a meat analogue product made through a special extrusion process which provides a 100% vegetable product that approaches the taste and texture of meat. This highly nutritious vegetarian meat substitute is processed from defatted soy flour which contains more than 52% protein and 18% total dietary fiber. TVP has been used for many years in U.S. Food Nutritional Service programs and has been an integral part of the School Lunch program. Because of the recognized health and nutritional benefit of soy protein in the diet and the added benefit of low moisture and low fat content, Honeyville Unflavored TVP is an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.
Shelf-Life: Unflavored TVP will store for 10 to 20 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once
opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months.
Instructions: Add one part textured vegetable protein to one part hot water. Allow Unflavored TVP to hydrate for about 15 minutes. Adding ½ cup textured vegetable protein to ½ cup of water will yield about 1 cup of cooked meat substitute.
Uses: Unflavored TVP can be used separately or in combination with meat as an effective meat extender in pastas, soups, casseroles, meat sauces, and more.

I called customer service and asked them to add this to my order after reading the high marks on the unflavored product. Chris was very helpfull and added this to my order with zero additional shipping and I will get it all in one shipment..thanks Chris
Fast easy and was nevr put on hold...thats the way Customer service should be!
I ordered the corn and strawberries and rye berries in bulk last time..the corn is great for snacking right out of the can..haven't tried the strawberries and the rye as it is for long term storage..i willl be ordering a case when I finish my "trial can" of corn. It is Strawberry season here in Nc so I can't comment on the Strawberries yet!

I took the unflavored TVP mixed with warm water and beef base I had on hand (3/4 tsp). The TVP absorbed the beef flavor. I then fried 1/2 lb. ground beef, mixed in the flavored TVP, added taco seasoning, and we had Taco's. My spouse could not tell it wasn't all beef taco's! I was impressed, and so was my spouse. Next time, I won't even bother with the ground beef. Can't wait to try it in spaghetti sauce and whatever else I can think of. I am really looking forward to adding 'liquid real hickory smoke' to the TVP, like bacon, and making omelets or burrito's...My imagination it the only boundary.

Best of all TVP Choices for Taste, Health, and Savings

This Product is excellent. Perfect for substituting in any recipe that calls for ground meat. I've used it in spaghetti sauce from scratch and with meat flavored sauce from the can and jar. Great for sloppy joes and cheeseburger sloppy joes entirely without meat. It can also be used to make a great tasting vegi-burger. However it really shines as a meat extender. I've used it to extend canned tuna, salmon, chicken, and beef for things like tuna and chicken salads. It works great to use with fresh ground meats also. It really takes on the flavor of whatever dish you put it in. This is where it is head and shoulders over the flavored varieties. The flavorings and sodium in those can really mess with the flavor of any dish you prepare with them and can lead to quite a few disappointed faces at home and at the pot lucks, but this does not happen with the extremely mild to non existent flavor of the unflavored TVP. People will actually ask me, "How did you get the sloppy joe meat to that consistency. It is real good!" So then, this product is great for those who want to increase their protein and fiber intake at the same time while being able to reduce their meat budget or go vegetarian. One last thing, It even works as a topping for salads and mixed in trail mixes and snacks for a unique flavor and texture, while you can also flavor it with spiced butter and oils and then dry or bake it to create some really good flavor granules for Chex and trail mixes, salad and casserole toppings and the like. Just use your imagination and you will definitely be saving money and improving your health flavorfully in no time at all.
PS The way I used it, it helped me to control my severe acid reflux to the point of no longer needing medication (which I had been on for almost three years)

We use this in pasta and it works very well. We use whatever seasonings that we like and the tvp absorbs the flavoring.
I have done business with Honeyville for over a year and it is one of the few companies that I truly trust. Y'all keep up the great work!
