Honeyville's Whole Flax seeds are an excellent nutritional food source for emergency preparedness. Flax seeds are one of the truly perfect foods. They contain high levels of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids. Omega three essential fatty acids are known to improve overall cellular health. The ground flax seed coat is the "Cadillac" of soluble and insoluble fiber, which helps to maintain a healthy digestive tract and reduces cholesterol. Flax mucilage absorbs starch, resulting in lower blood glucose and insulin. With high fiber content and a low relative carb count, flax seeds are a great addition to low carbohydrate diets in the form of flax muffins, breads, and various other recipes utilizing flax seeds or ground flax meal. Honeyville Whole Flax Seeds are an ideal product for your cooking and baking needs.

Shelf-Life: Whole Flax Seeds will store for 1 year in a sealed 50 pound bag under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place).

Flax Seed Oil and Protein Diet Proven To Stop Cancer
Gregory Lake (Columbia, Tennessee) 1/24/2013 3:30 PM
I am not related to this company, but I am glad that I found Honeyville. Their price for 50 lbs is by far the best! Dr. Johanna Budwig's book, The Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook, documents her research and test trials using flax seed oil, flax seed meal and German Quark cheese (compilable to cottage cheese)to cure any type of cancer. I am following this protocol for Atrial Fibrillation surgery complications and enjoy it every day. After researching many companies, I will be buying my bulk seeds from Honeyville. Thank you.

I have been using flaxseed both as animal feed and for human consumption for about 10 years now. I prefer to buy whole flaxseed and use it ground, as the storage qualities are much improved. A blender or coffee grinder work well for grinding small amounts. Although the whole seed is touted as a good fiber source/laxative, ground flaxseed or meal allows absorption of important nutrients (the nice fatty acid profile) that would otherwise be unavailable. Benefits are readily apparent even in livestock. Flax added to baked goods improves shelf life as it seems to inhibit mold. Added in small amounts, it imparts a nutty flavor to both yeast products and to pastries and cookies. Most home recipes can use anywhere from a tablespoon to 1/4 cup. Add less for yeast products; more can be used for pastries and cookies. The whole seeds should be considered for whole grain recipes, since they do provide an interesting, fun texture.

I use whole flax to supplement my chickens normal feed. It creates healthier, happier chickens. According to research it helps lower the cholesterol in the eggs they produce. Honeyville is my source for the flax and have provided excellent service. THANKS!!

Good Stuff!
Tom (Smithfield, Utah) 2/18/2011 6:35 PM
My mother and I have used this for years, and it's time to restock again. We grind it a bit at a time in a seed grinder and use it in various ways including in shakes. If I'm in a hurry I just stir it in a quarter cup of water and down it. Nice grain taste drinking it in water that way but some like it mixed in with other things.
