Honeyville's Whole Grain Rye is closely related to barley and wheat, but has more soluble dietary fiber than both. Rye is typically used to make rye bread, including pumpernickel, a type of German sourdough bread. Rye can also be used to make crisp breads, which are popular in Scandinavian countries. Rye breads and pumpernickels are known for their characteristic dark color, sweet dark chocolate coffee flavor, and earthy aroma.

Shelf-Life: will store for 1 year in a sealed 50 pound bag under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place).

Wonderful grain for bread
Judy (Leach) 1/12/2012 11:11 PM
I have bought a number of grains from Honeyville, and have always been happy with the quality and cleanliness of the grains. This whole grain rye is no exception. I grind it to make wonderful pumpernickel and rye breads. In addition to making breads for us, I use a number of the whole grains in a cooked mix that I feed my parrots. The quality and nutrition of these grains can't be beat.

Excellent rye grain
Judy (Illinois) 12/4/2011 2:48 AM
I have milled this grain for bread and cracked it for cereal. It has always been very clean, and makes wonderful pumpernickel and dark rye breads. I have bought a number of bulk grains from Honeyville, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of all of them. In addition, I am confident that Honeyville guarantees the quality of all of their products, and their customer service is the best.

The grain is very clean and uniform. I haven't milled any yet, but cooked some up for cereal. Wonderful! Customer service from Honeyville is A+. Due to my experience with them I am in the process of ordering again.
